Otherworld Police 24/7: Frontline Special!

One day, an earthquake causes an entire continent from another world to suddenly appear along the border between two Japanese prefectures. The newly arrived Garland Kingdom brings Japan some rather unusual public-safety problems. Goblins raid farms, dragons fly through Japanese airspace, and members of fantasy races begin crossing the border without authorization. Several years later, Japan and Garland have learned to coexist, at least in theory. The Japanese government establishes new laws regulating immigration and employment between the two worlds, including the Species Equal Employment Act, which allows legally registered fantasy races to work in Japan just like anyone else. That includes becoming police officers. At Sakaijima Police Station, located directly along the border with Garland, humans and otherworlders now serve side by side. Among its newest recruits is a former prince of the Garland Kingdom, who discovers that protecting the public in modern Japan requires considerably more than swinging a sword at monsters. The officers investigate livestock theft, handle lost property, conduct searches, question suspicious self-proclaimed heroes and knights, deport illegal workers, and respond to the bizarre assortment of crimes and accidents that inevitably occur when modern Japanese law collides with fantasy-world culture. There may be dragons overhead and goblins in the fields, but somebody still has to fill out the paperwork. A workplace fantasy comedy presented like a Japanese police documentary, following the officers responsible for maintaining law and order along the border between modern Japan and another world.
